He was very intrigued by south Florida history and wanted to embody it within the property; he chose to name it Vizcaya in order to capture the essence of legends as it was assumed that Biscayne Bay was named after Spanish province “Vizcaya” or “Biskaia”.
The entire property carries a lot of fascinating history of the lifestyle of rich and famous back at the beginning of the 1900s. This two story villa offers more modern features you could possibly imagine. Lowe level of west wing includes swimming pool which emerges from vaulted arches, spacious reception rooms and library on the first floor as well as stunning kitchen an breakfast room on the second level.
Private suites and multiple guest’s rooms include many impressive artworks and decorative elements acquired directly form Italy. Vizcaya Miami Baroque appearance may be misleading for visitors. Property was in fact a very modern house offering comfort and latest technology of the period, such as water filters system, heating and ventilation equipment, central vacuum cleaning system and partially automated laundry room as well as two elevators. Deering creation was absolutely amazing and today thousands of people visit the property to admire its unique style and elegance.
Vizcaya’s additional attribute are its European inspired gardens absolutely amazing which reminiscent seventeen and eighteen century gardens of Italy and France. Back in the days they were manicured daily by more than 24 gardeners.
They feature various maze and fountain gardens, statues and vases reflecting Renaissance and Baroque style so unique and different to any other American country estates. Here you can also find largest orchids collection of over 2,000 different specimens.
